concerned (adj.)

A full range of prepositions appears with concerned: about, meaning “worried over” (She was concerned about her children); at, meaning “wondering at or nervous about” (I was concerned at the level of noise in the hall); by, meaning “upset about” (Everyone was concerned by the screams coming from the basement); for, meaning “worried or anxious about” (We were concerned for those who were left on the dock); in, meaning “involved in” (George was concerned in the deliberations and couldn’t leave); over, meaning “bothered or worried about” (The director was concerned over how late we were); and with, meaning “interested in” (We were concerned with winning the election). All are Standard, and concerned is threatening to become a vogue word. Compare CARING.  1
