realistic, unrealistic (adjs.)
 
 
Realistic means “facing facts, practical, considering only the possible,” as in Her view of their chances is quite realistic. Unrealistic means “not facing facts, dreamily impractical, expecting the impossible,” as in He refused even to consider failure, although it was unrealistic to expect anything else.  1
