The second partition of Poland (See 1795, Oct. 24), between Russia and Prussia. Catherine, though hostile to the French Revolution, took care not to become involved. Instead, she furthered her own design in Poland, and by the third partition of Poland (Oct. 24, 1795) helped to extinguish the kingdom (See 1795, Oct. 24).
