The Peronist Party won the assembly vote in Argentina despite disaffection due to ongoing charges of financial corruption within the party. The left-of-Center Broad Front (Frepaso) did surprisingly well in the capital.
In the worst terrorist attack in Argentina's history, a bomb exploded in the Buenos Aires headquarters of several Jewish organizations, killing at least 96 people. Suspicion fell on Islamist groups. A subsequent car bombing at the Israeli embassy (July 26) caused a dozen injuries.
