1948, Aug. 11 Bulgarian Social Democratic Party and the Communist Party declared their merger as the Bulgarian Communist Party . 1 1949, Jan. 1 five-year plan was inaugurated . 2 June 25 Traicho Kostov was arrested and charged with ideological deviation and treason . Together with ten associates, he was later found guilty; he was executed on Dec. 16 . 3 July 2 Premier Dimitrov , who earlier had gone to Russia for medical treatment, died in Moscow . He was succeeded by Vassil Kolarov . 4 Oct. 1 Bulgaria denounced its treaty of friendship with Yugoslavia . 5
