Amendments to laws on marriage, family, and guardianship were introduced to tackle Hungary's rising divorce rate, the highest in Europe. The new laws included raising the marriageable age of women from 16 to 18, increasing the compulsory waiting period for couples registered to marry from one to three months, and ensuring the equal rights and responsibilities of divorced parents with respect to alimony and the child's interests in custody.
