The transformation of Poland into a Communist-dominated Soviet satellite made further headway as the Socialist Party was fused with the Communist Party, and became the Polish United Workers' Party(PUWP). The Peasant Party joined the government bloc, a compulsory youth organization was set up, and the judiciary was changed along communist lines.
