(tô´d ) (KEY) , town (1991 pop. 16,722), Umbria, central Italy, on a hill in the Apennines and on the Tiber River. It is an agricultural and tourist center. The picturesque town has important Etruscan remains and Roman ruins. Noteworthy buildings include the Gothic Priors Palace, the Gothic Palace of the Captain of the People, the Church of San Fortunato (12921460), and the cathedral (16th17th cent.). |
