(Gino Bonichi) (sh pyô´n ; j ´n b n ´k ) (KEY) , 190433, Italian painter. Together with Mario Mafai, Scipione was a cofounder of the Roman school, an expressionist movement, in 1928. His highly personal symbolism depicts fantasy tinged with violence. Roman Courtesan (1930; Mattioli Coll., Milan) is a characteristic work. |
