Pritina
 
 
or Prishtina (both: pr´shtnä) (KEY) , city (1991 pop. 155,449), S Serbia. It is the chief city and capital of Kosovo and the heart of the Albanian Kosovar separatist movement. Pritina, a commercial center with diverse industries, including woodworking, textiles, and food processing, suffered much damage during the 1999 Kosovo crisis. Lead and silver are mined nearby. Pritina was a capital of the Serbian empire in the 14th cent.
