(ptsht´) (KEY) , city (1990 pop. 174,790), S central Romania, in Walachia, on the Argesul River. It is the administrative and commercial center of the Arge region and an important rail junction. Piteti is famous for its wines. The chief manufactures are automobiles, footwear, and wood products. There are several resorts nearby.
