(both: äNr ´ dü v rzhy ´ kôNt d lä rôshzhäkl N´) (KEY) , 1772–94, French commander, leader of the counterrevolutionary army in the Vendée. His legendary gallantry and tactical abilities were of little avail against superior republican armies. He was killed in battle. |
