Kent, George Edward Alexander Edmund, duke of
 
 
1902–42, fourth son of George V of Great Britain. He traveled extensively as “salesman of the empire.” A member of the Royal Air Force after 1940, he was killed on active service in a plane crash in Scotland. Three children were born of his marriage (1934) to Princess Marina (1906–68) of Greece: Prince Edward (b. 1935), who succeeded him as duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra (b. 1936), and Prince Michael (b. 1942).
