( vyäN´-l -b N) (KEY) or Évian, town (1993 est. pop. 7,027), Haute-Savoie dept., E France, on Lake Geneva. It is a fashionable spa at the foot of the Alps. Évian-les-Bainss mineral water is bottled and exported to all parts of the world. Liqueur and precision instruments are also produced. A cease-fire agreement between the French government and the provisional government of Algeria was signed at Évian in 1962. |
