(t r ´sä kär ´ny ) (KEY) , 18531917, Venezuelan pianist; pupil of L. M. Gottschalk and Anton Rubinstein. Her debut was made in New York in 1862. She appeared as an opera singer for a brief period but thereafter continued her piano career, becoming known as one of the foremost pianists of her time. She composed a festival hymn for the Bolívar centenary, 1883, and was a teacher of Edward MacDowell. |
