§ 33. miso-


The prefix miso- and its variant mis- come from Greek misein and misos, which mean “hatred.” Thus, misanthropy (from mis- plus anthropos, “man") means “hatred or mistrust of humanity,” and misogyny (from miso- plus gune, “woman") means “hatred or mistrust of women.”    1
