NOUN:Informal. A difficult, often embarrassing situation or condition: box1, corner, deep water, difficulty, dilemma, Dutch, fix, hole, hot spot, hot water, jam, plight1, predicament, quagmire, scrape, soup, trouble. Informal : pickle, spot. See EASY.
VERB:1. To unite or be united in a relationship: affiliate, ally, associate, combine, conjoin, connect, join, link, relate. See CONNECT. 2. To be morally bound to do: charge, commit, obligate, pledge. See OBLIGATION. 3. To apply therapeutic materials to (a wound): bandage, dress. See CARE FOR. 4. To make fast or firmly fixed, as by means of a cord or rope: fasten, knot, secure, tie, tie up. See KEEP, TIGHTEN.
