VERB:1. To take place: befall, betide, come, come about, come off, hap, happen, occur, pass, transpire. Idioms: come to pass. See HAPPEN. 2. To become affected with a disease: catch, contract, get, sicken, take. Idioms: come down with. See GET. 3. To be disclosed gradually: evolve, unfold. See SHOW. 4. To bring (a product or idea, for example) into being: generate, produce. See KIN. 5. To come gradually to have: acquire, form. See GET. 6. To disclose bit by bit: elaborate, evolve. Idioms: fill in the details, go into detail. See SHOW. 7. To express at greater length or in greater detail: amplify, dilate, elaborate, enlarge, expand, expatiate, labor. See EXPLAIN. 8.
