PRONUNCIATION:  shôlm -lm, -km, shä-lm ä-l-m
INTERJECTION: Used as a traditional Jewish greeting or farewell.
ETYMOLOGY:Hebrew lôm ‘lêkem, peace be with you : lôm, peace; see lm in Appendix II + lêkem, with you ( ‘al, ‘, to, upon; see cly in Appendix II + -kem, second person pl. pronoun).
