Lloyd George, David
 
 
A British political leader of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; he was prime minister of Britain at the end of World War I and afterward. After the war, at the negotiations that produced the Treaty of Versailles, Lloyd George opposed President Woodrow Wilson of the United States, who was relatively conciliatory toward Germany. Lloyd George called for squeezing Germany “until the pips squeak.”  1
