or Ivory Coast,officially Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, republic (1995 est. pop. 14,791,000), 124,503 sq mi (322,463 sq km), W Africa, on the Gulf of Guinea of the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered by Liberia and Guinea on the west, by Mali and Burkina Faso on the north, and by Ghana on the east.
