A. E. Housman (1859–1936).  A Shropshire Lad.  1896.

LVIII. When I came last to Ludlow

WHEN I came last to Ludlow

  Two honest lads and hale.

And Ned lies long in jail,
And I come home to Ludlow
  Amidst the moonlight pale.
